Dark Prophecy Alpha 2 Professinal Review

Dark Prophecy is easily the best game ever made in Flash, bottom line. In combines an original story, great graphics, great rpg system and everything that make an rpg work out fantastic. To read the full review read below the stars.

GRAPHICS: One of the noticable features of a game or anything made in Flash. The graphics in DP: Alpha 2 are great. I give it a 9/10, its really good. Top notch graphics!

SOUND: The sound in DP: Alpha 2 are great and fit the game nicely even though they are copied from old school games like CastleVania. Even though, its not a big factor.

STORY: Probably one of the most important things an RPG game should have. Most RPG with a great battle system and whatnot lack in the story but in this game, the story is great and is very interesting.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is good. Even though your attack is a little slow its not a big factor considering the amount of time put in to make the code for this game. It even has a create a character where you answer questions from the Zodiac Signs, its really neat.

OVERALL: DP: Alpha 2 is the best game ever made in Flash.

PROS: Great rpg system, many side adventures, very interesting

CONS: Slow attacks, and Enemy AI could be a little better.

It was Alright.....

This game was OK. But I found a bug on it. I was heading toward to get the key in level one and suddenly the game restarts all the way back to the intro. wtf? Also fight take way to long. I've been playing an hour and im still on level 1. Each fight takes like 5-10 min. and that is just complete bullshit. We have guys that heal themselves everytime we hit them, i mean come on. Then we got them dodging and us missing 80% of the time. The graphics were ok. But you need to fix these things if you want a better score. This could be no 1 in the portal if you would fix these things and add some good fucking music. Oh yeah i almost forget, its way 2 slow!

The restarting bug sounds like a problem with the Flash standalone player, there's an issue with right and left arrow keys. I am currently working on making the enemies that can heal use that power less often when you are at lower levels, and taking the dodge levels down a bit as well.

Ideas

First off let me congratulate you on your effort. It looks to me like it could make it to the top 50 if you finish it and add some ideas people give you. The battles are ok in the demo but with the insult option in the real version that sounds pretty sweet. I like the style. Make the intro longer and more understandable. Add sounds with emotion that goes along with the game. Show blood when players/oppenets get hit and add sound effects of them getting hurt,talking etc.. if you could. Great effort I look forward to the full version!

Thank you :) I have an idea for how I want the insult option to work, but if you have a good idea for it, let me know in the BBS and I can discuss it. As for voices...I originally wanted the whole thing to be done in voices, but now I realize that if I did so it would be about a 20 meg download, so I still will probably use voices, but only in battle. And the intro was rewritten last night, and yes will probably be rewritten again in the final version. And with two votes for blood, I don't know, you might see some later. Appreciate your input :)
